This academic article examines the representations of the chrysanthemum (Also known as ju or chrysanthemum flower) within the context of Chinese culture by tracing its historical development from the Zhou dynasty (pre-Qin period) through the Han and Wei dynasties. Over time, the chrysanthemum gradually crystallized into a symbol of pure and noble virtue, a meaning that is most clearly articulated in the poetry of Tao Yuanming. Literary works from this period played a crucial role in consolidating the symbolic status of the chrysanthemum and establishing its enduring influence on later cultural and literary interpretations. Furthermore, the study reveals that following the era of Tao Yuanming, the representations of the chrysanthemum expanded and branched out into various multidimensional meanings during the Tang and Song dynasties. The representations of the chrysanthemum in classical poetry and ancient writings reveal a wide range of symbolic dimensions. These include its association with the morally upright and dignified gentleman, resilience and endurance in the face of adversity, images of autumnal solitude and melancholy, its role within the cultural practices of the Double Ninth Festival (Chongyang Festival, expressions of nostalgia and longing for one’s homeland, as well as its function as a polysemous cultural symbol. Collectively, these multifaceted representations reflect the dynamic interaction between literary expression and cultural values, illustrating how the chrysanthemum has served as a stable yet adaptable symbol embodying the worldview, ethical ideals, and emotional sensibilities of Chinese society across different historical periods.

Keywords: Chrysanthemum imagery, Historical evolution, Polysemous cultural symbolism
Chang Liอภินันท์ ธรรมอินทร์ลาด

This descriptive and analytical research article aims to study the reflections on war problems and the literary techniques used to present them in the young adult literature Mueawannee by Sri Kesamanee. The findings reveal that the primary cause of the war was Field Marshal Plaek Phibunsongkhram’s decision to ally with Japan. This decision led to consequences across six dimensions: 1) Political and administrative, 2) Economic, 3) Social, 4) Educational, 5) Cultural, and 6) Psychological impacts. Furthermore, the author reflects these war problems through four distinct literary techniques: 1) A flashback plot structure; 2) Characters who experience the hardships of war, impacting their thoughts, emotions, and feelings; 3) Combat scenes that convey the fear and chaos of warfare; and 4) A narrative perspective delivered through a first-hand experienced narrator. Ultimately, the author portrays these war conflicts to raise awareness among the youth regarding the brutality of war at the national, societal, and individual levels.
ฮัซวานี กระโดฮาซันสนิ ดือมาลีพัชลินจ์ จีนนุ่นปริยากรณ์ ชูแก้ว

The article “Tổ Quốc Trong Tim” Concert: The Construction of Vietnamese Nationalism in a Global Context” aims to examine the construction and transmission of nationalistic consciousness through musical performing arts in the national concert, Tổ Quốc Trong Tim (Fatherland in My Heart). This qualitative research employs content analysis and cultural interpretation specifically examining stage design, lyrical content, and audience participation to understand the symbolic communication that constructs the meaning of the nation in contemporary society. The study utilizes the "Third Space" conceptual framework proposed by Soja (1996) and Chayan Vaddhanaphuti (2006), integrated with the concept of "Ritual Space" by Kanjana Kaewthep (2017), to explain the relationships among physical space, social space, and mental space. The findings reveal that the concert functions as a cultural space connecting the past and the present, transmitting national ideology in a contemporary format, and providing a platform for the younger generation to participate in reinterpreting national identity within a new context. Therefore, the performance is not merely an artistic celebration but serves as a “cultural weapon” that cultivates national pride and consciousness, ensuring their persistence amidst globalization and the transitions of modern society.
ปิติภัทร จันทะมาตย์แก้วตา จันทรานุสรณ์

This research aims to analyze the psychological content of the novel Plae Kao (The Scar) by synthesizing knowledge from Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalytic theory, Jacques Lacan’s concepts, and Postcolonial theory. The findings based on Freudian analysis suggest that the author, Mai Muang Doem, utilizes the rural world as an imaginary space to gratify the demands of the Id—instinctual desires that serve as an outlet from the aristocratic regulations and "civilized" constraints of the urban environment, which constitutes the author's original background. Lacanian analysis reveals that the metaphoric structure compresses Khwan’s personality traits of true love and recklessness together. Thus, the text subconsciously conveys that aggression is beauty, as it serves as an expression of authentic love. Meanwhile, metonymic communication establishes a connection that positions the rural setting in a state proximal to the Id, while Bangkok, representing civilized society, is situated closer to the Superego. From a Postcolonial perspective, the analysis finds that the author, as an urbanite, perceives the rural world through the character of Khwan, who functions as a hybrid figure. In certain respects, the author views the countryside through the text with a detached gaze, resulting in other rural characters being reduced to stereotypes of the "Other" characterized by weakness. Furthermore, the narrative techniques render Riam voiceless; consequently, she is portrayed entirely as a "woman lost to the city," making her eventual punishment appear justified within the logic of the text.
ทำนอง วงศ์พุทธ

This research article aimed to investigate the process through which social capital was mobilized to sustain food security within a small-scale fishing community. The study adopted a qualitative research methodology grounded in a phenomenological approach, with units of analysis situated at both household and community levels. Fieldwork was conducted in the Laem Phak Bia small-scale fishing community, Ban Laem District, Phetchaburi Province, from December 2024 and May 2025. The key informants were categorized into two groups. The first group consisted of 40 households engaged in small-scale fisheries, while the second group comprised 9 community leaders and 10 community elders, yielding a total of 59 key informants. Data were collected through in-depth interviews in conjunction with semi-structured interviews. The data were subsequently analyzed using content analysis and presented through analytical description.

The findings demonstrated that the process of mobilizing social capital for food security within the small-scale fishing community could be conceptualized into three interrelated phases. The first phase involved the formation of social networks and collaborative linkages with relevant institutions and external agencies. The second phase centered on the cultivation of trust, social cohesion, and legitimacy in community leadership. The third phase involved the conversion and utilization of social capital to secure access to community resources, including food security, cultural capital, economic capital, and symbolic capital. The study further revealed that social capital functioned as a crucial social resource underpinning the community’s food security and collective capacity for adaptation. Moreover, the process of mobilizing social capital enabled its transformation into other forms of capital, particularly cultural, economic, and symbolic capital, which reinforced livelihood sustainability and strengthened the community’s resilience amid ongoing socio-economic and environmental transformations.
อนุรักษ์ สิงห์ชัยศุภณัฐ ทรัยพ์นาวิน

This study examined public confidence in the performance of Khon Kaen University across demographic factors including gender, age, education level, occupation, and monthly income. Quantitative research design was employed using concepts related to public confidence and institutional operations, and related studies. Data were collected using questionnaires from 494 residents aged 18 and above living in Khon Kaen Municipality during the 2024 fiscal year. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation, and inferential statistics using one-way ANOVA with LSD post hoc comparisons.

The findings indicated that most respondents were female, aged 45–60, held a bachelor’s degree, were self-employed, and earned 5,000–10,000 baht per month. Primarily received university news through public relations signs, community leaders, and community radio, while Facebook was the most frequently used online platform, followed by YouTube and the university website. Overall public confidence in the university was high, particularly in academic and healthcare services, followed by graduate production, research and innovation, organizational quality development, personnel and management, and arts and culture preservation. Higher confidence levels were observed among working women and diverse gender groups aged 35–60 with higher education and stable occupations, likely due to greater access to university information and services. Conversely, younger individuals, those with lower education levels, and people in less secure occupations reported lower confidence. Although income was not a major determinant, higher-income groups occasionally demonstrated significantly stronger confidence.

The findings indicate that Khon Kaen University play a significant role in fostering public trust through academic and healthcare services, which received the highest level of trust, reflecting their accessibility and tangible benefits to the community. Confidence in graduate production, research and innovation, and organizational development also remained high; however, community-oriented research outcomes and public awareness still require further improvement. In addition, public confidence is influenced by service experiences and social structures. Therefore, strengthening communication policies, proactive services, and promoting research outcomes to the community are essential for enhancing public engagement and supporting sustainable institutional development.
วรวิทย์ สิริภานุวัฒน์

This article aimed to examine the problems associated with organic waste management and the participatory public policy mobilization process for organic waste management in Sila Municipality, Mueang District, Khon Kaen Province. The study employed Participatory Action Research (PAR) to investigate the model, mechanisms, and processes of participatory public policy mobilization in community-based organic waste management. Data were collected from municipal administrators and officers, community leaders, households practicing waste segregation, waste collectors, and users of organic waste products in seven pilot communities. The findings revealed that the decentralization of authority and resources from the municipality to local communities enabled community members to participate in designing operational systems and developing flexible management mechanisms suited to local contexts. This process contributed to the emergence of “green households” practicing waste segregation, as well as volunteer groups collecting organic waste for the production of compost and bio-fermented liquids for agricultural use. Such practices were consistent with the socio-economic context of peri-urban communities where agriculture remains a primary occupation. Consequently, the volume of waste requiring municipal disposal was significantly reduced. Municipal officers and the research team continuously supported community organic waste management through knowledge enhancement on waste management practices, monitoring meetings, household visits, visits to agricultural plots utilizing organic waste products, lesson-learned sessions, and community feedback activities. These processes strengthened community confidence and fostered the effective mobilization of participatory public policy in organic waste management.

มานะ นาคำพะเยาว์ นาคำ

This research aimed to 1) study the development and roles of Thailand’s policy for promoting OTOP product branding and 2) Analyze the role of this policy in generating soft power to enhance value and expand markets in ASEAN countries. This study employed documentary research, using secondary data from policy documents, government agency reports, international organization reports, academic articles, and documents related to OTOP policy, branding, value enhancement, soft power, and ASEAN market expansion. The data were analyzed through content analysis under the conceptual frameworks of Soft Power, Value Chain Analysis, and Nation Branding. The analysis revealed that 1) Thailand’s OTOP policy has developed from the promotion of community products into a policy mechanism that connects product development, standards, branding, entrepreneurs, and market channels. OTOP product branding is therefore a process of managing product value, ranging from local wisdom, origin, quality, and storytelling to consumer experience; and 2) The policy for promoting OTOP product branding plays a role in generating soft power by transforming community cultural capital into brands, economic value, and the image of Thai products, particularly in ASEAN markets where income levels, consumer behavior, and cultural proximity differ. Accordingly, OTOP can function as an economic and cultural instrument when the state systematically manages cultural capital through branding, value chain upgrading, and target market segmentation.

Keywords: Branding promotion policy, OTOP Products, Soft Power, ASEAN countries
เสฏฐนันท์ วรรณวรเศรษฐ
