This article is divided into two parts. The first part presents theories associated with texts under constraint to examine the untranslatability of literary works and the concept of recreation. The second part delves into problems found and solutions proposed by translators, focusing on three specific topics: different choices of the omitted letter, the metatextual structure of Perec’s novel, and his lipogrammatic citations of six poems. Most translators retain the omission of the letter e as in the original text, while some choose to eliminate another vowel that is the most frequently used in their language. The organization of chapters and parts in the translated versions varies in accordance with the number of letters and vowels in the target language. The aim of this study is twofold: (1) to classify the types of semantic relations encoded in this construction, i.e., identification, categorization, characterization, and localization (Creissels, 2006) and (2) to investigate the relationship between the types of semantic relations and those of syntactic structures in this construction. In French, the copulative construction contains one of the copulas considered as the nucleus of the sentence, such as <em>être, sembler, paraître, devenir, avoir l'air.</em> Each copula which determines one or more semantic relations is followed by different types of syntagms (nominal syntagm, adjectival syntagm, prepositional syntagm, etc.). Unlike other copulas which are reserved for a specific relation, <em>être</em> applies to all semantic relations. The study is based on data extracted from <em>Little Prince</em> (Saint-Exupéry, 1999). This monolingual literary written corpus consists of 515 occurrences.</p> Nichuta Bunkham Copyright (c) 2024 Bulletin De L' Association Thaïlandaise Des Professeurs de Français 2024-06-09 2024-06-09 47 147 20 40 Effectiveness of Using Role Play to Improve French A2 Speaking Skills for Students in French Programme at Burapha University https://so01.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/bulletinatpf/article/view/273059 <p>The purposes of this research were 1) to create and measure the effectiveness of learning innovations using according to the efficiency of 70/70 criteria, 2) to find learning progress after using learning innovations through role-playing activities according to the post-learning score of 70 percent, and 3) to study the students’ satisfaction with the use of role playing activities in class. The target group of this research consisted of 49 second-year students, majoring in French for Communication at Burapha University, who enrolled in the course entitled 22622164 French Listening and Speaking for Everyday Use in the first semester of academic year 2023. The research instruments were 1) learning innovation using role-playing activities, 2) French speaking skills tests, and 3) satisfaction questionnaires. The data were analyzed by using percentage, average, standard deviation and One-Sample t-Test. The results of this research were as follows: 1) the learning innovation using role playing activities to improve French speaking skills has efficiency of 70.61/74.46 which is higher than the 70/70 criterion; 2) students have the post-study score of 74.46 percent, which is higher than the 70 percent criteria with statistical significance of .01 level; 3) the satisfaction of the students with using role playing activities in class was overall at a high level.</p> <p><br /><br /></p> <p> </p> Marut Hantaley Copyright (c) 2024 Bulletin De L' Association Thaïlandaise Des Professeurs de Français 2024-06-09 2024-06-09 47 147 41 59 Project-Based Learning Management in the French for Tourism Course, Faculty of Humanities, Kasetsart University https://so01.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/bulletinatpf/article/view/273503 <p>The main objective of this study aimed to investigate the results of using the project-based learning management plan. The subjects of the study were twenty-two third-year students of the French section, Faculty of Humanities, Kasetsart University, and nine informants were selected through purposive sampling for focus group discussions. The research instruments were the project-based learning management plan and the semi-structured interviews. The results of the study were as following: the video clip project to promote tourism in Thailand in French enabled the students to develop more knowledge skills about tourist attractions in Thailand, and in terms of work skills, they could systematically carry out every step of their work by themselves, develop creativity In creating the video clips which are interesting and applicable to real life, and successfully apply technology to the making of the video clip project. From focus group discussion, the students displayed a high level of satisfaction with their video clips as they could develop their full potential in creating new and challenging work.
