https://so01.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/humanjubru/article/view/279583

English in online media plays a crucial role in communication and the promotion of cultural tourism sites in Chiang Rai province by disseminating information and attracting tourists. This study examines the text types and English characteristids used inr communication in online media related to cultural tourism in Chiang Rai province. The research analyzed 174 texts from 29 websites between 2020-2022 and incorporated the opinions of the experts in English, marketing, and tourism regarding the significance of text types and language features in online communication.

The findings showed that five text types were utilized with varying frequencies. Expositive texts were the most prevalent, followed by descriptive, persuasive, and narrative texts. The procedural texts were the least common. Moreover, the divergence between textual analysis results and expert opinions highlighted the gap between theoretical principles and practical applications. Content creators tended to prioritize descriptive texts to enhance engagement and appeal, whereas experts emphasized the importance of clear and structured expositive texts for effective communication. These findings underscored the necessity of strategically selecting and integrating diverse text types based on the communication objectives and contextual factors of each platform. These can serve as a practical guideline for tourism entrepreneurs and related stakeholders in developing effective online promotional content, thereby enhancing communication efficiency and attracting greater tourist interest.
Nattharakan Khamchaiwut

https://so01.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/humanjubru/article/view/275465

This research article focuses on the study of Hanuman’s battle choreography in the Ramakien epic, specifically the episode of the Battle against Wirunchambang, following the style of National Artist Khru Kri Vorasarin in the field of Performing Arts (Dance – Khon) in 1988, as passed down through Ajarn Wirot Yusawas, a Thai classical dance expert from Bunditpatanasilpa Institute. The objective of this study is to analyze the performance components of Hanuman’s battle choreography against Wirunchambang in the Ramakien Khon performance. The research employed qualitative methodology, with fieldwork involving dance practice and data collection from academic documents to analyze Hanuman’s battle choreography in this episode.

The findings revealed that the battle choreography in the “Khon Na Cho” style of the Ramakien, episode Battle against Wirunchambang, based on the royal literary version from the reign of King Rama II, is divided into 3 processes: 1) the process of Hanuman’s search for the sacred foam, comprising pursuit and searching gestures; 2) the process of Hanuman’s battle with Wirunchambang, comprising challenge gestures, preparation for battle gestures, fighting gestures, and club-snatching gestures; and 3) the process of killing Wirunchambang, comprising club-striking gestures and Hanuman’s departure gestures. The performance followed the traditional style passed down by Khru Kri Vorasarin from the Royal Entertainment Department, accompanied by traditional Thai percussive music (Phleng Na Phat) appropriate to each scene. The structure of the battle choreography includes patterns from traditional monkey-versus-giant combat, as well as newly created gestures distinctive to the Battle against Wirunchambang episode, namely: the sacred foam search gesture, the backward floating gesture, and the slaying gesture of Wirunchambang.

Rattanachai Tumphet สุรัตน์ จงดา ธีรภัทร ทองนิ่ม

https://so01.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/humanjubru/article/view/277201

This article was aimed to 1) examine serpent-like monsters in Greek mythology and 2) explore the reflection of serpent-like monsters in two aspects: their appearances and their roles. The theoretical framework applied in this study was Carl G. Jung’s Archetype theory. The results revealed that 21 types of serpent-like monsters were identified, consisting of monsters in the form of extremely large serpents and those composed of more than one type of living being. Regarding the roles of these monsters, five distinct roles were identified, namely 1) servants 2) creators 3) victims 4) enemy killing tools 5) punisher. Furthermore, a symbolic analysis of these roles revealed that serpent-like monsters embody various symbolic meanings, including strength, death, resurrection, procreation, and deception. The findings of this study can be commercially utilized as inspiration for character design, backstory development, or plot creation in fantasy online games, movies, or novels.
Baranee Boonsong
