Class 26; and 2) to study factors affecting the decision to enter service in the Artillery of the Army Non-Commissoned Officer School. Class 26. The study was a quantitative research, using questionnaires as a tool for collecting information from samples of 310 Army Non-Commissoned Officer School students.

The major findings were: 1) the Army Non-Commissoned Officer School students, who were enlisted soldiers, made the decision to join the Division as their first choice for military service after the ranking process. This decision was primarily driven by their intention to choose the Division as their top preference after entering the ranks of student soldiers. Furthermore, even before becoming student soldiers, they expressed initial interest in selecting the Division for their military service; and 2) The factors influencing the decision to join the Division among the Army Non-Commissoned Officer School students were attitude and motivation. Both factors have statistically significant positive correlation with the decision to join the Division at a significance level of 0.05. However, in terms of personal factors, including economic status, hometown, and pre-enlistment status, the study found no statistically significant relevance.
2023-12-25T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2023 Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences Loei Rajabhat University https://so01.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/husolru/article/view/269492 Epistemic Modality Degrees of Chinese Fortune Sticks’ Prophecies: A Case Study of Watthaisamakkhee’s Prophecies in Chinese fortune sticks 2023-10-18T14:00:43+07:00 Abhinan Wongkittiporn [email protected]
Abstract

The practice of Chinese fortune sticks is a kind of fortune-telling that can be accessed easily by all genders and all ages while visiting the temples in Thailand for them to make merit. In addition, it is popular activity among Thai people. This study examined degree of epistemic modality in Chinese fortune sticks’ prophecies that appear in different topics, such as finance, work, health and love. The data collection was gathered from Watthaisamakkhee, Mae Kasa, Mae Sot District, Tak Province. To ensure the reliability of the written prophecies used in this study, the researcher selected the written prophecies translated by an assistant professor from a prestigious university in Thailand. The data collection in this study was 28 written prophecies translated into English which were made up of 49 sentences. The data collection was collected in Microsoft Excel. The data analysis followed thematic analysis by Braun and Clarke (2006), which are divided into 6 stages for qualitative analysis. The results in this study show that the epistemic modality with the level of probability was the highest at 93.88 percent. Moreover, approximately 90 percent of the written prophecies were written with positive semantic denotations, while only 10 percent were written with negative semantic denotations. It is expected that the results of this study will be useful for learners of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) in order to study epistemic modality marked in different texts and be able to apply them in actual use correctly and approximately.
2023-12-25T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2023 Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences Loei Rajabhat University https://so01.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/husolru/article/view/269499 Knowledge Package Development “Storytelling of Khaoroopchang” to Enhance Learning for Youth of KHAOROOPCHANG Sub-District, MUANG District, SONGKHLA Province. 2023-10-18T11:12:42+07:00 Sadanon Wattatham [email protected] Bunika Chanked [email protected] Sittiporn Sripong [email protected] Chotika Ratichaliyakul [email protected] Worawan Sooksai [email protected] Patcharawadee Agsornpim [email protected] Amonrat Chirandon [email protected]
This research was a mixed method that aims to 1) survey the local context of KHAOROOPCHANG Sub-District, MUANG District, SONGKHLA Province, 2) design and create knowledge package “Storytelling of Khaoroopchang”, and 3) verify the suitability of knowledge package “Storytelling of Khaoroopchang”. This research was a documentary, interviews with 5 informants and focus group with 16 people by purposive sampling from the experts, experienced persons, and community philosophers and analyze the information with content analysis. It causes a controversy centered on the ownership of the wild animal. According to Section 12, the Civil and Commercial Code, the first person is the owner of the animal. From another point of view, the author considered the Buddhist literature on the Buddha and the Swan. Prince Devadatta shot a swan with arrow and hunted after the injured bird. However, Prince Siddhartha managed to heal and save swan’s life before Prince Devadatta caught up. An argument over the ownership of the swan arose. The Buddhist literature judged that the savior had a preferred right to the opposer. Hence, Prince Siddhartha owned the swan.

The study found that the concept of law principles was contrary to the concept of Buddhist literature. According to the law principles, those who come first gained the absolute right. In Buddhist literature, the savior’s right prevailed. It draws a comparison between law and morality. Lon Fuller and Somdet Phra Buddhaghosacariya (P. A. Payutto) believed that the law should always be consistent with morality. John Austin argued that there is no necessary connection between law and morality. Although these two concepts are different but has been adapted into the law. The author thought that Thai legislation should take into account morality as a guideline to ensure a suitable relevance to the way of life of the Buddhists.
2023-12-25T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2023 Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences Loei Rajabhat University https://so01.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/husolru/article/view/269259 Poverty and Inequality in Thai society 2023-10-18T10:43:15+07:00 Nipapan Jensantikul [email protected]
This academic article aims to analyze the situation of poverty and inequality in Thai society and propose appropriate public policy guidelines. The results of the analysis showed that: 1) The overall poverty situation in Thailand in the year 2021 of Thailand decreased and when considering the poverty sector, still concentrated in the Southern region, North-East and North and in rural areas rather than urban areas. 2) The situation of inequality was classified into 3 characteristics: inequality in wealth and income, inequality in distribution opportunities and the disparity in power. 3) The guidelines for determining the appropriate public policy are that the public policy makers should be able to access the community to create interaction with the community, assessing community resources and community knowledge based on participatory, promoting equal opportunities in various fields in order to response the actual poverty problem. In addition, the government should set up an agency responsible for collecting, analyzing, classifying data to create poverty indicators and find approaches to reduce the disparities that are appropriate.
2023-12-26T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2023 Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences Loei Rajabhat University https://so01.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/husolru/article/view/269531 Location Analysis of Traphang Chang Phueak Sukhothai Province-a Consecrated Water Source at the Coronations of Rama VI - VII 2023-10-18T10:57:16+07:00 Wasawat Netprahas [email protected] Sorrawich Khunset [email protected] Roongnirun Saisuk [email protected] Phanuwit Woonchum [email protected]
This article aims to scrutinise the location of Traphang Chang Phueak where it had been used as a consecrated water source at the coronations of Rama VI and Rama VII by integrating historical method with geographic approach. The study reveals that the aforementioned source was initially used at the second coronation of Rama VI in 1911 and the coronation of Rama VII in 1925 for the last time. At the coronation of Rama IX, water collection from the reservoir has been suspended because of a drought. The current location of Traphang Chang Phueak is approximately 100 metres away from the southwest of historical sites which is a different part of the pond within the modern Traphang Chang Phueak Temple. This was a consequence of historical artefacts interpretation from archeological excavation from 2019 to 2021. Researchers had analysed the information from documents and aerial photographs combined to obtain the location of Traphang Chang Phueak that is in line with historical evidence.

At present, the area of Traphang Chang Phueak is considered to be an neglected area and a wasteland overgrown with weeds. Traphang Chang Phueak is a group of reservoirs that are excavated to store water for seasonal use, which is only flooded during the flooding season. In the future, if the area is developed and preserves the pond; it will flourish the information about water management of important irrigation systems in Mueang Sukhothai while maintaining the status of the consecrated water source used in the coronation.
2024-01-02T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2023 Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences Loei Rajabhat University
