The study pursued two primary objectives: firstly, to examine the theological virtues that Christians cultivate through participation in sacred music during the Eucharistic celebration at the Sacred Heart Cathedral of Chiang Mai Diocese; and secondly, to explore approaches for implementing sacred music in the Eucharistic celebration to foster theological virtues among the faithful at the same cathedral.

The research methodology employed purposive sampling to select two distinct groups of informants. The first group comprised 18 regular congregants who maintained consistent attendance on Sunday Eucharistic celebrations, participating at least three times monthly. The second group consisted of 7 experts, selected based on their professional qualifications and liturgical expertise. Data collection was conducted through semi-structured interviews, with distinct protocols designed for each group of participants. The data collected underwent systematic analysis through content analysis methods, frequency distribution, and hierarchical ranking procedures.

The findings revealed that:

1. Theological Virtues Fostered through Participation in the Eucharistic Celebration

Sacred music plays a pivotal role in fostering theological virtues faith, hope, and charity among the faithful participating in the Eucharistic celebration at the Sacred Heart Cathedral, Chiang Mai Diocese. Sacred music has different effects on the minds of the faithful at different ages.

A group of young Christians shared their opinion that: Sacred music enhances their sense of closeness to God, facilitating a natural engagement in prayer. Hymns rooted in Scripture deepen their understanding of faith and reliance on God in all circumstances. Moreover, participation in the choir fosters a spirit of love and unity, reinforcing their sense of belonging within the Christian community and stimulating their interest in Church teachings.

Adult Christians group shared their opinion that: Sacred music aids in prayer and enhances concentration during liturgical celebrations. Hymns emphasizing divine mercy and forgiveness encourage personal conversion and the practice of mutual forgiveness. Furthermore, songs that highlight hope in God’s mercy and eternal salvation provide encouragement in the face of life’s challenges. Congregational singing fosters communal unity and strengthens their identification with the Church.

Elderly Christians group shared their opinion that: Sacred music reinforces faith and hope in eternal life. Hymns focusing on resurrection and divine mercy instill confidence in God's abiding presence. Communal singing fosters inner peace, enhances prayerful reflection, and promotes solidarity, particularly for elderly members who may be unable to participate in other community activities.

2. Guidelines for Utilizing Sacred Music in the Eucharistic Celebration to Enhance Theological Virtues to Christians.

Guidelines for the use of sacred music in the Eucharistic celebration should be oriented toward fostering the theological virtues of faith, hope, and charity, which constitute the foundation of Christian life. The implementation of these guidelines should be clear and practicable, ensuring that sacred music serves as a true instrument of prayer.

Guidelines for Fostering the Theological Virtue of Charity: Hymns should be selected based on Scripture and the teachings of the Church, emphasizing themes such as the Word of God, redemption, and the Passion of Christ. This selection enhances awareness of the significance of the Eucharist and Christ’s sacrifice. The use of Psalms, which have been long integrated into liturgical traditions, should be encouraged. Additionally, catechesis on the meaning of hymns, especially for young people, should be promoted to ensure that singing becomes an act of prayer and an authentic proclamation of faith rather than mere recitation.

Guidelines for Fostering the Theological Virtue of Hope: Hymns should inspire confidence in divine mercy, focusing on themes such as forgiveness, redemption, and eternal life. Special attention should be given to music used during Lent and Advent, emphasizing the anticipation of Christ’s coming and the fulfillment of God’s promises. Choir members should be trained to convey the emotional depth of hymns effectively, enabling the faithful to experience the message of hope embedded in the music.

Guidelines for Fostering the Theological Virtue of Charity: Music should serve as a unifying force within the Christian community. Hymns reflecting divine love and fraternal charity, such as Ubi Caritas, should be prioritized. Active participation of all age groups in choral singing should be encouraged to strengthen communal bonds. Choral singing in particular should be promoted as it cultivates unity, self-sacrifice, and collaboration among choir members. Additionally, efforts should be made to document and transmit sacred hymns from the elderly to younger generations, ensuring the continuity of sacred music as a means of living out the teachings of the Church.
Tawin Kittawee, Rev. This investigation utilized a mixed-methods research design, gathering data from a sample of 615 participants, including clergy, religious, and the lay faithful. The findings indicated that implementation across all three dimensions of Synodality was generally at a high level. Specifically, the dimension of Communion recorded the highest mean score (4.24), with respondents reporting exceptionally high pride in their Catholic identity (4.86). Key empirical challenges to Synodal practice were identified: 1. Declining faith and devotion among youth (38.46%). 2. Inappropriate conduct of clergy and religious (18.03%) and 3. Barriers to participation were largely due to external factors (77.54%), primarily time constraints (33.54%). This study primarily advocates for: developing youth pastoral approaches responsive to the contemporary context, enhancing the formation processes for clergy and religious, promoting interfaith dialogue, and improving communication systems and technology utilization. Future research should conduct an in-depth study into the factors contributing to the decline of faith among Catholic youth.
Asst. Prof. Dr.Saranyu Pongprasertsin, Rev.Wittaya Lerttanongsak, Rev. The sample consisted of 181 schools under the Office of Ratchaburi Primary Educational Service Area, determined using Krejcie and Morgan’s sample size table. A stratified random sampling technique was employed, using the educational service areas as strata. Two respondents were selected from each school: one school administrator and one teacher, yielding a total of 362 participants. The research instruments included a conceptual framework assessment form, a structured interview form, and a five-point Likert scale questionnaire with a reliability coefficient of 0.89. Strategy development was conducted using the TOWS Matrix, along with an appropriateness and feasibility evaluation form. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation, as well as the priority needs index technique and content analysis.

The research findings revealed that

The current state of teacher development for the implementation of Competency-Based Education policies was found to be at a high level overall, while the desirable state was at the highest level. The most critical need for teacher development in this context lies in competency-based instruction. The major strength of teacher development was identified in the area of competency-based assessment and evaluation, whereas the weakness was found in competency-based instruction. Opportunities for teacher development were associated with the economic context, while obstacles emerged from technological, social, political, and policy-related factors.

The development of strategies for teacher enhancement to support Competency-Based Education policies yielded three main strategies, seven sub-strategies across seven domains, and twenty-two operational approaches. Specifically: (1) curriculum management strategy consisted of three sub-strategies and nine operational approaches; (2) competency-based instruction strategy comprised two sub-strategies and six operational approaches; and (3) competency-based assessment and evaluation strategy included two sub-strategies and seven operational approaches.

Overall, the three main strategies—competency-based curriculum management, competency-based instruction, and competency-based assessment and evaluation—were considered highly appropriate and highly feasible for implementation.

Assoc. The article focuses on explaining the role of psychological flexibility as a core psychological mechanism that connects values-consistent action, psychological well-being, and the formation of personal identity in an era in which individuals’ behaviors, self-meanings, and life directions are increasingly influenced by digital technology and algorithm-driven systems. It is proposed that values-based living does not merely function as a strategy for reducing psychological distress, but rather serves as an internal compass that enables individuals to remain open to challenging internal experiences while intentionally choosing actions aligned with personally meaningful values, even when facing pressures from performative digital cultures and constant social comparison. Furthermore, the article discusses how value conflicts emerging in digital contexts are associated with key ACT processes. Overall, this article contributes a theoretically grounded framework for understanding psychological well-being and identity formation in the digital era and provides a foundation for future empirical research and the development of mental health promotion practices in digitally mediated societies.
Dr.Thirawarin Bunyapipat, Dr.Nongkran Wongsri Copyright (c) 2026 Saengtham College Journal https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://so01.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/scj/article/view/285778 Tue, 30 Jun 2026 00:00:00 +0700
