https://so01.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/truhusocjo/article/view/274336

This academic article aims to achieve three objectives: 1. to review the author of the text, 2. to review the purpose of the composition, and 3. to study Niras poems and reorganize its sequence. The study finds that Prince Aphai, the son of King Taisa, is the author of the Niras poems. The purpose of the composition was to express the sorrow of separation and longing for his lover, and to describe the journey to venerate sacred objects at Khao Samokhon. Upon analyzing the text and reordering the verses, the study reveals that the journey described in the poem starts from Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, proceeding north along the Lopburi River, passing through various locations, including Pho Sam Ton, Chao Pluk, Lopburi, Khao Samokhon, and then continuing to Phra Phutthabat Saraburi. The journey then heads south to Bang Khamod, Ban Pho Taeng, Bang Sai, Ko Phra, and Ko Rian, before returning to Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya. It is suggested that Prince Aphai may have undertaken this journey to explore the route in preparation for potential military action that could arise between him and King Boromakot, his uncle, who held the position of Chao Phaya Uparat (Crown Prince).
Natawut Klaisuwan

https://so01.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/truhusocjo/article/view/274112

This article aims to analyze Thai society through the lens of the Charvaka philosophy, reflecting the characteristics of Thai society that are marked by haste, enjoyment, entertainment, and indulgence. It highlights issues such as poor-quality education, politics driven by self-interest, and a superficial cultural tradition devoid of true value, focusing solely on materialism. According to the Charvaka philosophy, the present is to be lived fully, with no concern for an afterlife or future reincarnation. It advocates for indulgence in sensory pleasures, emphasizing eating, drinking, and seeking happiness in this life because the afterlife is uncertain. The Charvaka philosophy, or materialistic philosophy, promotes the pursuit of immediate gratification by satisfying bodily desires without regard for moral principles. This results in concepts such as materialism, hedonism, and the pursuit of bodily pleasures. It leads people to focus on enjoying the present without concern for life after death, as there is no influence on current existence—once death comes, it is the end. The philosophy prioritizes material possessions over the mind, advocating for reducing suffering and increasing just happiness.
Phramaha Teerawee PunsriLaongdao Chatongyots

2024-12-282024-12-28153169186"Reanalysis and Analogy”: Some Syntactic Mechanisms Influencing the Grammaticalization Process in the Thai Language
https://so01.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/truhusocjo/article/view/273730

This article discusses the syntactic mechanisms that lead to the process of grammaticalization, focusing on two key mechanisms: reanalysis and analogy. Reanalysis refers to changes that result in the creation of new structures, replacing the old ones. These changes, which occur at a deep, often invisible level, are referred to as "covert" changes. On the other hand, analogy involves the transformation of one linguistic form based on another, resulting in changes at the surface level of language, which are more apparent and thus termed "overt" changes. The grammaticalization process requires the reanalysis of content words, such as nouns and verbs, as well as the reanalysis of syntactic units. The outcome of this reanalysis is that content words become grammatical words. These grammatical words are then able to combine with various other words, a flexibility not present when they function solely as content words. Therefore, the mechanism that allows grammatical words to combine with other words is analogy.
Suwatchai KhotchaphetPattamaphon Sathitphong Surasak Kaewnoi

https://so01.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/truhusocjo/article/view/274459

This study aims to 1. examine the career adaptability of employees at the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA), particularly those in the Operations Division of Bus Services, and 2. compare the career adaptability of employees in the same division. The study sample consisted of 366 employees from BMTA's Bus Operations Division 1 and Division 3, including bus drivers and ticket collectors, selected through stratified random sampling. The research tool used was a 24-item career adaptability questionnaire. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including mean, standard deviation, and repeated measures analysis of variance (ANOVA). The results revealed that employees at BMTA's Bus Operations Division 1 and Division 3 demonstrated a high level of overall career adaptability, as well as in each individual component. Specifically, the highest mean score was observed in the dimension of career self-control, followed by career curiosity, career confidence, and career attentiveness, respectively. The repeated measures analysis of variance indicated that the variances in career adaptability components were not equal (Mauchly's W = 0.903, Sig. = 0.000). Furthermore, the Greenhouse-Geisser correction revealed statistically significant differences in the mean scores of the career adaptability components at the 0.05 level (F = 6.773, Sig. = 0.000). Pairwise comparisons showed that employees scored significantly higher in career self-control, career curiosity, and career confidence compared to career attentiveness (p < 0.05).
Panida PanidvadtanaKamontip SrihasetVasin Nuchkong

https://so01.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/truhusocjo/article/view/274133

This research article aims to: 1. examine the significance of the Chao Anouvong Rebellion and its impact on the political policy changes of Siam in the Isaan region, and 2. explore Siam's actions to expand its power in the Isaan region following the Chao Anouvong Rebellion of 1826. The study employs a historical approach and documentary research methodology. The research findings reveal that the Chao Anouvong Rebellion made Siam aware of the weaknesses in its control over the Isaan region, due to a fragile political structure and a lack of stable governance. Specifically, issues related to the autonomy of local power groups, personal conflicts, and the struggle for resources led to a weakened system of local governance and self-defense when crises arose. This, in turn, prompted Siam to revise its administrative policies to consolidate power by more rigorously intervening in and controlling the Isaan region. The changes involved territorial management, such as adjusting the authority boundaries of various cities, direct control over city establishments, and the creation of a balance of power within the region. Siam also implemented governance mechanisms, including sending central officials to work in the region, monitoring manpower, and addressing the tribute system. These measures formed the foundation for Siam's subsequent annexation of the Isaan region as part of the modern state.
Prawit Saisanguanwong
