Representation of prostitution identity in Thai dramas

Abstract

The study  representation  of prostitution identity in Thai dramas. This study could enhance the identities of character in Thai dramars. This qualitative research analized the contents of Thai deamas as the text to represented character of courtesans in Thai dramas. “How to be courtezan”. The data was collected by carefully considered the three Thai dramars which consised of 1) Karn Kaew in Lhong Fire (2017) 2) Dao Nill in Mae Eai Sa Uen(2018) 3)Ray Nu in Khong Kham(2019) The data analysis procedure was a descriptive analysis. 

This study has been found that; 1) The demographic characteristics of courtezan, including age, education level, social status and economic status which are the cause of differencs of the prostitutes'  personality speech expressions, thoughts, decisions, and behavior. 2) Thai dramas create physical characteristics for courtezan to have physical characteristics that are beautiful woman, good complexion, fine skin, slim body or all reasons which could ensure that this this woman could be the good product. 3) Thai dramas create images of behavioral representations, including speech, expression personal habits to have positive aspects, such as speaking sweetly to their customers and negative aspects such as shrewish vulgarity.  4) Thai dramas create a reality about why prostitution is caused by poverty. Ambition, delusion, and being deceived because of ignorance of others. 5) Thai dramas created a reality about accepting prostitution. It have coded the characters of the prostitutes to not accept the identity of their self-employed prostitutes. 6) Thai dramas creates a reality about the expectations and the end of a prostitute's life. Quitting a prostitute career and turning to a career with diligence have tried to fully use their knowledge and abilities. That prostitute will receive an opportunity and acceptance from society. And able to succeed in life but If any whore don’t think of give up prostitution as a careless life will end with disappointment To the point of death.
