Guidelines for academic administration by school administrators to raise achievement levels O-NET testing of students in educational institutions Under the local government organization, Rayong Province

Abstract

          Academic administration of educational institutions is a task related to all activities of the school. This is because the main goal of the educational institution is the quality of teaching and learning. Currently, the measurement of the quality of education management is the assessment of the National Basic Education Test or the (O-NET) examination. From the results of the assessment of the National Basic Education Test (O-NET) for Grade 6, Academic Year 2022, at the educational area level, affiliation level and national level, it was found that the overall test results of 4 subjects: Thai, English, Mathematics and Science of educational institutions under local administrative organizations in Rayong Province had an average of less than 50 percent for all subject groups. Therefore, the researcher is interested in studying the guidelines for academic administration of educational institution administrators to raise the O-NET test results of students in educational institutions under local administrative organizations in Rayong Province to meet national standards.

          This research aimed to 1) study the current status of academic administration of school administrators under local administrative organizations in Rayong Province and 2) present guidelines for academic administration of school administrators to improve O-NET test results of students in educational institutions under local administrative organizations in Rayong Province. The population consisted of 474 teachers in schools under local administrative organizations in Rayong Province in the academic year 2023. The sample used in the research was obtained by simple random sampling using the Krejci and Morgan size determination table, resulting in a sample size of 214 people. The research instruments included a 5-level rating questionnaire and an interview form. The statistics used for data analysis included frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation.

          The research results found that 1) Academic administration of school administrators to improve the O-NET test results of students in educational institutions under local administrative organizations in Rayong Province, overall, the practice was at a very good level ( = 4.40). The aspect with the highest practice and average score was educational supervision ( = 4.44), followed by the development of internal quality assurance systems in educational institutions (  = 4.43), and the development of school curriculum ( = 4.42). The aspects with the lowest practice and average score were the development of media and technology use for education, research to develop the quality of education in educational institutions, and development of learning processes, respectively. 2) Guidelines for academic administration of school administrators to improve the O-NET test results of students in educational institutions under local administrative organizations in Rayong Province are: 2.1 In terms of developing the use of media and technology for education in teaching and learning, school administrators should support sufficient technological materials and equipment and encourage teachers to use technology. 2.2 In terms of research to develop the quality of education 2.3 In terms of learning process development, school administrators should develop teachers' potential and competencies to be consistent with future skills and be able to organize active learning so that learners can develop higher-level thinking processes.
