Main Article Content
Abstract
This article focuses on studying the role of the International Tribunal For the Law of the Sea in providing advisory opinion on climate change. In particular, it analyzes the essence of the Request for an Advisory Opinion submitted by the Commission of Small Island States on Climate Change and International Law (Request for Advisory Opinion submitted to the Tribunal) Case No 31. It analyzes and synthesizes whether Thailand, as a state party to the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, will receive any benefits from the court’s opinion. The results of the study found that Thailand will receive benefits in terms of the court consideration process and benefits related to the issuance of policies and measures regarding the prevention, reduction and control of pollution of the marine environment and the protection and preservation of the marine environment from climate change.
