Abstract

This study aimed for 1) studying the bibliography of Kru Paitoon Unhaka. 2) studying Pleng Chud Bua Loi of Kru Jamnien Sri-Thai-pand: a case study of Kru Paitoon Unhaka. This research was a qualitative research method. The data were collected through documentary research, followed by in-depth interviews. This study found that Kru Paitoon Unhaka was born on 1st January 1965. He was a child of Mr.Thongbai Unhaka and Mrs.Ranchuan Unhaka. He has six brothers and sisters. Kru Paitoon Unhaka graduated with a Bachelor of Education Degree in Music Education at the Faculty of Education, Chulalongkorn University. Kru Paitoon Unhaka has musical works such as Sound recording of Lom Mai Roo Rhoi (Pi Nai’s performance with Pleng Klom Naree Pleng Ma Yong and Pleng Ma Rum), Sound recording of Ban Tuk Wai Nai Pra-Wat-Sart Siang
Kong Phan Din and Sound recording of Pleng Ek Hang Siam. Kru Paitoon Unhaka received the transmission of songs by Kru Jamnien Sri-Thai-pand, for example, Pleng Ma Yong Sam Chan, Pleng Ma Rum Sam Chan, Pleng Tayoi Diew and Pleng Chud Bua Loi. At present Kru Paitoon Unhaka is a Senior Professional Level Teachers at Mahaprutaram Girl School under the Royal Patronage of Her Majesty, the Queen. Moreover, He is a special lecturer at the Department of Art Music and Art education, Faculty of Education, Chulalongkorn University. Pleng Chud Bua Loi in Pi Chawa performance of Kru Jamnien Sri-Thai-pand was arranged by Kru Paitoon Unhaka. The arrangement has a unique technique, melody regulation, the use of artistic devices, song accents, breathing, fingering, and other specific methods. The researcher studied the structure, techniques, and instrumental performance in Pleng Chud Bua Loi of Kru Jamnien Sri-Thai-pand and found that the twenty-two positions and patterns and five of techniques of Pi chawa’s. In addition, the use of letters to symbolize the structure of the song.Pleng Chud Bua Loi in Pi Chawa performance of Kru Jamnien Sri-thai-pand was arranged by Kru Paitoon Unhaka. The arranging has a unique technique, melody regulation, artistic devices, song accent, breathing, fingers using, and specific method. It shows that Tang Pi Chawa of Kru Jamnien Sri-Thai-pand has an identity; furthermore, Kru Jamnien Sri- Thai-pand received the transmission of techniques such as special fingers practices. Accent limitation from Kru Tewaprasit Pattayakosol through observation and memory. Pleng Chud Bua Loi of Kru Jamnien Sri-thai-pand has song procedures are arranged as follows: 1) Pleng Rua Sam La 2) Pleng Bua Loi 3) Pleng Nang Nhai 4) Pleng Rua Khan 5) Pleng Fhai Chum 6) Pleng Rua Khan and 7) Pleng Nang Hong.
