Learning Management through the Application of YouTube-Based Videos with Communicative Language Teaching Approach to Improve English Listening and Speaking Skills of Grade 9 students

Abstract

The purposes of this research were 1) to compare the skills in English listening and speaking before and after learning management through the application of YouTube-Based Videos with Communicative Language Teaching Approach (CLT) of grade 9 students and 2) to study the students’ opinion after implication by using learning management through the application of YouTube-Based Videos with CLT Approach. The population comprised 378 students from grade 9 in Matthayomwatbuengthonglang School, the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 2. The samples were 43 students, selected through a cluster random sampling method. The research instruments were the lesson plans using the application of YouTube-Based Videos with CLT Approach, the test of English listening skills, the test of English speaking skills and the opinion questionnaire of students after the experiment. The data were statistically analyzed by using mean, standard deviation and dependent t-test.

The results revealed that 1) The skills in English listening and speaking of grade 9 students after implication by using learning management through the application of YouTube-Based Videos with CLT Approach was higher than before the experiment at the statistical significance level of .05 and 2) The students’ opinion toward learning management through the application of YouTube-Based Videos with CLT approach after implication was found at the high level. (gif.latex?\bar{x}=4.21) The study revealed that learning management through the application of YouTube-Based Videos with CLT Approach can improve students’ English listening and speaking skills effectively. Students learn to use English meaningfully, confidently and correctly.
