Abstract

The purposes of this research were to compare undergraduate students’ ability and development of creative writing by using learning activity based on the genre-based approach with peer feedback and to study students’ satisfaction after learning a genre-based approach with peer feedback. The sample in this research includes 44 undergraduate students of the University of Phayao, who enrolled in the academic writing course of the first semester in 2021, selected based on the purposive sampling. The research instruments include 1) genre-based writing activity and peer feedback lesson plan, 2) creative writing ability test, 3) tasks of creative writing, 4) creative writing assessment and criteria rubrics, and 5) the satisfaction questionnaire. For data analysis, the descriptive statistic methods such as mean scores and standard deviation. The results show that 1) students who participated in genre-based learning activities and peer feedback can achieve creative writing ability with higher score than before learning and the progress of assessment development in point of creative writing after learning is also in an excellent level, and 2) students’ satisfaction after learning a genre-based approach with peer feedback in all parts of testing are in the most satisfying level, which x ̅= 4.49 and S.D. = 0.54.
