The Adaptation of Chanthaburi’s Folk Performing Arts Approach through the Context of ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community

Abstract
The researchers’ goal are: (i) to study the 4 of Chanthaburi Folk Performing Arts-- CFPAs (ii) study the qualifications of the CFPAs and (iii) discover the CFPAs adaptation approach through ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community-- ASCC. The purposive sampling of 4 CFPA are completely data collecting in this field study, consist of folk song of Chong, folk song of Khmer (A-yai), Teng-Took folk performance, and funeral drama performance (Ram-suad). The key informants are 4 senior artist of each acting folk media, 4 of academic representative, and 4 of stakeholders representative to the in-depth interview, observation, focus group discussion, and seminar onto develop the CFPA approach.
The research found that (i) the CFPAs are the prolonged folk media of chanthaburi community, each of CFPAs are visible reflected the community’s identity, particularly, the folk song of Shawng and A-yai can be reflected their ethnicity of Chong and Khmer culture. Meanwhile, the Teng-took and Ram-saud can be reflected the entertainment role and the happiness from the funeral, in contemporary most of CFPAs are shown on both auspicious and misfortune ceremony. (ii) The qualification of 4 CFPAs can be analysed in 7qualifications included both media’s form and content, communication process, function, as well as cultural transmission, negotiation, network, and management. And (iii) The adaptation approach of CFPAs through the context of ASCC can be synthesized that is the form of folk cultural identity reservation in ASEAN community context, which form must understand the real social change context, the history consciousness, cultural change context, media’s form of adaptation into the new media, the public involvement of folk media studied sphere, and the creative culture as well as identity existence together with the glocalization improvement.
