The purposes of this research were to compare between creative thinking and critical thinking abilities of ninth grade students, before and after participating of social studies learning activities using creative problem solving process. The sample was 42 students in ninth grade students. Research instrument used for data collection were creative thinking and critical thinking test with reliability of 0.81 and 0.81, respectively. The instrument used in the experiment was three social studies unit plans. Dependent t-test was applied for comparative data analysis.
The results of this research were as follows that 1) The students attended social studies learning activities using creative problem solving process had higher scores in creative thinking abilities than before attending at 0.05 level of significant. 2) The students attended social studies learning activities using creative problem solving process had higher scores in critical thinking abilities than before attending at 0.05 level of significant. 3) The students attended social studies learning activities using creative problem solving process had higher scores of creative thinking and critical thinking abilities at average mean 0f 3.27 and 3.53 respectively
