Abstract
The purposes of the research were: (1) to study the effects of an inductive method on the web using infographic on the conceptual thinking ability of lower secondary school students categorized into two groups based the two different cognitive styles, the Field Independent (FI) learners and the Field Dependent (FD) learners, (2) to compare the different of an inductive method on the web using infographic upon the conceptual thinking ability of lower secondary school students with different cognitive styles. The samples comprised of 60 lower secondary school students. The research instruments consisted of a science lesson plan, a website designed based on an inductive method with online infographic, the GEFT Test, the conceptual thinking ability test, the learning behavior observation form, and the infographic performance evaluation form. The data were collected and analyzed using an arithmetic mean, a standard deviation, and a t-test.
The results of the study revealed that: 1) the post-test conceptual thinking ability mean score was significantly higher than the pre-test mean score (p<.05), and 2) the post-test conceptual thinking ability scores of the FI learners and the FD learners were significantly different (p<.05).
