LIGHTING; DESIGN AND UNDERSTANDING IN THE CREATION OF THAI DANCE: CHATRI SRI AYOTHAYA

Abstract

This academic article's objective is to study information on lighting design from Western theater and apply them for demonstrating accurate and meaningful message through the creative dance called "Chatri Sri Ayothaya". This lighting design is based on the principles of lighting design from Western theater, which is analyzed through documents, research articles as well as various related media sources. The result was found that lighting design aimed to capture the audience's attention and understanding in performance for both Western theater and Thai dance works by applying knowledge in visual arts to compose the excellent lighting design.

From this study, researcher has implemented the principles of Western theater lighting design and visual arts knowledge for Chatri Sri Ayothaya performance which has provided the foundations of harmonize and appropriate lighting design. Moreover, they were able to convey the accurate performance meaning as the creator' s requirements and be more helpful for the audience understand in the live performance.
