Abstract

A savings cooperative is a type of financial institution established without a profit-making objective, but rather to provide mutual assistance among its members to alleviate hardship and improve their quality of life. It is managed by a board of directors elected to represent the members. The primary businesses of savings cooperative are deposits and loans. The board of directors analyzes financial ratios using CAMELS Analysis to provide early warning systems, mitigate risks, determine strategic direction, reflect the cooperative's performance, build confidence among members and stakeholders, and serve as a guideline for current and future operational planning. This benefits all users of financial statements and stakeholders.
