Implementation of Article Numbering System

2026-04-01

The Editorial Board of the Asian Journal of Applied Economics wishes to inform authors and readers that, effective from Volume 33, Issue 1 (2026), the journal will implement an article numbering system in place of traditional page numbering for all published articles.

This change is undertaken to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of article identification, to facilitate digital indexing and retrieval, and to ensure alignment with current international publishing practices. Under this system, each article will be assigned a unique article number, which will serve as the primary reference in citations in lieu of page ranges.

Authors and readers are requested to adopt this citation format for all articles published from this issue onward.

Journal Title Change

2023-07-03

Starting from Volume 30, Issue 2 (July–December 2023), the Applied Economics Journal (AEJ) changed its title to the Asian Journal of Applied Economics (AJAE). This change aims to enhance its focus, making it more distinctive. The journal title was changed to avoid duplication with an existing publication title and to reduce potential confusion in indexing, citation, and database retrieval. The new title was also selected to strengthen the journal’s international identity and visibility, while providing a clearer and more focused description of its scope. In particular, the revised title reflects the journal’s emphasis on applied economics in the Asian context, making its regional focus more explicit and its academic positioning more distinctive.

Transition to Online-Only Publication

2022-06-13

Starting from the 2023 volume, the Applied Economics Journal (AEJ) has transitioned to a fully online publication model. To support environmental sustainability and ensure faster access to research, the journal discontinued the printing of hard copies after the final 2022 issue. Readers can continue to access all full-text articles and metadata through our official digital platform.
