Design and Development of Fashion Clothing for Elderly Women’s Well-Being

Abstract

This research aims to study the clothing requirement and preferences of elderly women and for designing a specific fashion clothing line for well-being. The samples are 140 women from the Bangkok Civil Servant Club, aged between 60 to 79. Data were evaluated for percentage and were sorted in numerical order and then summary of description. The experiment to assess apparel design were evaluated by five experts. 

The research results are as follows:

1. In terms of the clothing requirement and preference, it was found out that the elderly preferred casual wear. The style they considered the most fashionable are the ones on light-colored fabrics. This choice equates to elderly women's preference for comfort as it will be easier for them to wear and remove, resistance to wrinkling and durable press finishing process: anti-crease as well as anti-bacteria. In addition to this, elderly women also prefer durable press finishing process, anti-crease, as well as anti-bacteria features. The clothes are decorated with lace. The problem was found that wearing clothes is uncomfortable of hooks which are conveniently using.


2. In designing the elderly women’ fashion clothing found that the second style of short-sleeved, ¾ length sleeved, bracelet sleeved, long sleeved and pants were found that city pants in first style, ¾ pants in third style, ankle pants in third style, long pants in first style pants were the most selective which is a suitable form and helps to promote well-being for elderly women.
