Main Article Content
Abstract
This research aims to categorize various personality types of Thai Micro Enterprises using the concept of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) personality test. According to (OSMEP Issue 3, 2020), a Micro Enterprise is defined as a small business with no more than 5 employees and an annual revenue not exceeding 1.8 million baht. MBTI refers to the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, a personality assessment tool that categorizes people into 16 types. It was developed by Katharine Cook Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers, based on Carl Jung's theory, to help understand differences in personalities and thinking styles.
This study employs qualitative research methodology, gathering concepts of Micro Enterprise and Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) from various documents (Documentary research). The first research tool used was a Focus Group, interviewing three human resource experts to group personality types suitable for Micro Enterprises. The second research tool was another Focus Group with five selected Micro Enterprise experts to analyze ways to categorize various personality types of Micro Enterprises. The third research tool was a semi-structured In-depth Interview with three copywriting experts to name and create descriptive personality types suitable for Micro Enterprises for communication purposes with stakeholders.
The research findings revealed four personality types of Thai Micro Enterprises: 1) Top Sales Entrepreneur,
2) Charming Entrepreneur, 3) Indie Entrepreneur, and 4) Silver-tongued Entrepreneur. Each type has descriptive personality traits to help Micro Enterprises relate and apply these personalities to themselves.
The significance and benefits of this research are as follows: 1) It provides guidance for Micro Enterprise entrepreneurs to understand their personalities, which will help develop businesses aligned with their strengths. 2) Government agencies supporting Micro Enterprises can design appropriate projects or policies for each personality type. 3) It creates new understanding about the diversity of Micro Enterprise entrepreneurs' personalities in Thailand. The research results can be applied to develop and promote Thai Micro Enterprises to grow efficiently, in line with the potential and personality of each entrepreneur.
