Approaches to Leadership Development for Conflict Resolution in Organizations
Main Article Content
Abstract
This documentary research aimed to: (1) examine the characteristics and components of leadership related to conflict management within organizations, and (2) explore approaches to applying leadership to promote conflict resolution in organizations. The researcher reviewed relevant documents, textbooks, and research studies, conducted interviews with educational administrators within educational service areas, and analyzed the data using content analysis.
The findings revealed that effective leadership serves as a key mechanism for constructive conflict management. Transformational leadership and democratic leadership were found to have positive relationships with conflict management. Leaders should primarily employ compromise and collaboration as strategies for conflict resolution. Essential leadership attributes for reducing conflict include constructive communication skills, active listening, critical thinking ability, adaptability, and the application of Buddhist moral principles—specifically the Four Principles of Social Solidarity (Sangahavatthu IV)—as guidelines for sustainable conflict prevention. By fostering trust, encouraging participation, and ensuring transparent communication, leaders can enhance relationships, reduce tension, and ultimately promote effective and unified organizational performance.
