Transformation leadership model work competency and motivation affecting work efficiency of life insurance company employees in Thailand

Abstract

The objectives of this research are to: 1) study the level of transformation leadership model, work competency, and motivation affecting work efficiency in life insurance company employees in Thailand.; 2) study the causal factors, transformation leadership, work competency, and motivation affecting work efficiency in life insurance company employees in Thailand; and 3) present a model of the work competency in life insurance company employees in Thailand with analytical data. This research is a mixed method. The quantitative research consisted of a sample of 300 employees of life insurance companies in Thailand. Stratified random sampling was used to collect data using questionnaires. The data were analyzed using structural equation modeling. For qualitative research, data were collected through in-depth interviews including employees, executives, directors of the Thai Life Assurance Association, and academics or experts, totaling 9 people, and analyzed using content analysis.

The results of the research found that: 1) transformation leadership, work competency, motivation, and work efficiency in life insurance company employees in Thailand are important at a high level. 2) Work competency has the greatest total causal influence on work efficiency of life insurance company employees in Thailand, followed by transformation leadership and motivation. 3) A model of the work competency of life insurance company employees in Thailand was derived. The model is as follows: a diagram with performance competencies that have the greatest total influence. Following that, transformation leadership and motivation influence the work competency in life insurance company employees in Thailand, focusing on work competency, work quality, and work-related competence. After that, the path coefficient values of the variables that influence work competency in life insurance company employees in Thailand are considered. Therefore, the researcher created a new model that was developed “Model of performance competency, transformation leadership, and performance motivation of employees of life insurance companies in Thailand”.
