Management for Muay Thai Gym in Andaman Provinces

Abstract

This article has two objectives: 1) to examine the environment and current status of Muay Thai gym enterprises in the Andaman cluster provinces and 2) to analyze the factors influencing the management of Muay Thai gym enterprises in this region. The research employs a mixed-methods, framed by McKinsey’s 7-S model and sustainability concepts. The in-depth interview sample includes Muay Thai gym entrepreneurs and managers in the Andaman cluster, selected through purposive sampling, with a total of 8 participants. For the survey, the sample includes Muay Thai gym entrepreneurs, managers, trainers, and service staff in the Andaman provinces, totaling 318 respondents selected through stratified and simple random sampling techniques. The research tools consist of two main instruments: in-depth interviews and questionnaires. Qualitative data were analyzed using content analysis, while quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including percentage, mean, and standard deviation.
The research results were found as follows; 1) The environment and current status of Muay Thai gym enterprises reveal that successful gym operations stem from a strong passion for Muay Thai, discipline, diligence, resilience, openness, flexibility, and sportsmanship. Effective management requires systematic organizational knowledge, quality considerations, and maintaining a clean, well-ventilated gym space. Equipment should be arranged systematically, and safety for both life and property must be prioritized. 2) Factors affecting the management of Muay Thai gym enterprises indicate that the eight factors in the overall model are rated at the highest level. Among them, sustainability ranks first, followed by shared values in second place and strategy in third place, respectively.
