Abstract

This research studies on the evolution of jurisprudence in the region of Patani particular and examines the character of Sheikh Zainul Abidin Bin Muhammad al-Fatani (Tuan Minal) and his approach in his book "Khashfullitham" Overall, this study focuses on the basis of documentary research and data analysis in the interpretation of the quality of the description. The study reveals the facts as follows:

1. The arrival of Islam in Pattani had emerged the generation of scholars that had played important role in spreading of Islam in this region. The development of jurisprudence in Pattani had been shown in several stages since the beginning of Islam to the present day.

2. In the late 1918 until mid-1920, Patani had come out many scholars and some of them was Sheikh Zainul Abidin Bin Muhammad al-Fatani (Tuan Minal).He was active and diligent in spreading Islam, and his "Khashfullitham" is one of the greatest books of fiqh in Malay.

3. The approach in his book, Sheikh exposed the Islamic principle that has a special approach in his view of legal provisions if compared with other books written by other scholars of his time in Pattani.
