Abstract

This research was aimed to examine the roles of Umar Ibn Abdul Aziz in verifying the solidarity of Muslim nations during his reign.  It was a documentation research.  The researcher collected the documentation data from various sources such as libraries and internet websites.  The data were especially related with Islamic history and civilization.

This research has found as the followings: (1) the role of Umar Ibn Abdul Aziz for the coherence of Muslim nations in his reign was the best example among the Islamic reigns in the Umayyad dynasty comparatively.  The practices of Umar were different from others.  His characteristics and techniques for making administrative rules were prominent. He was able to establish the solidarity of Muslim nations with privilege.  Umar was well educated in religion and had a closer tie with ulama philosophers.  (2)  The role of making a good understanding towards the rebels who trying to destroy Islam in his reign was that, he successfully dissolved the conflict and many challenging problems. One of the best things he did was to get rid of conflicts by creating a harmonious atmosphere among the different communities. This harmony was exemplified as ‘solidarity’ which had been different from others in the Umayyad dynasty before his time.  And, (3) In the Umar’s administration, justice and liberty were also practiced.  Because of his capability, there was no resistance or very few of resistances took place.  The society under his office was very happy and peaceful.
