Abstract

Presently, educational institutions need to develop their basic education curriculum and evaluate its implementation to effectively revise the curriculum. This mixed-method research aims to 1) study the implementation of the basic education curriculum, B.E. 2551 (2008), 2) compare its implementation based on gender, educational level, and work experience, and 3) provide guidelines for developing curriculum and its implementation. The CIPP Model was employed to evaluate the implementation of the basic educational core curriculum, B.E.2551 (2008) in which context, input, process, and product were analyzed. The sample consists of 278 teachers of educational institutions under the Office of the Private Education, Satun Province, and 8 panels of experts. The instruments consist of questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. The collected data were analyzed by t-test, One-Way Anova, and content analysis. The findings revealed that the level of implementation of the basic education curriculum, B.E. 2551 (2008) of the Office of the Private Education, Satun Province was high. And its implementation based on gender, educational level, work experience was found to be insignificantly different. Regarding guidelines for developing curriculum, the institution shall analyze indicators of the curriculum to find if there are similar indicators that can be integrated to reduce time spent for teaching and learning process, and the measurement and evaluation used should be appropriate to the school context.
