IMPLEMENTATION OF TAHFIZ AL-QURAN TEACHING IN SOUTHERN THAILAND : A COMPARATIVE STUDY

This research aims to explore and analyze the development history of Quran memorization methods, focusing on the techniques employed by teachers. It particularly examines how these methods are implemented in schools in the southern border provinces of Thailand, choosing six schools as case studies: Tahfiz Markaz, Yala, Darussalam School, Narathiwat, Islamiyah School, Yala, Salihuddin Chana School,Songkhla, Quran and Kalamullah School, Pattani, and Bamrung Islam School, Pattani. The study encompasses interviews and questionnaires, coupled with document analysis, involving 180 participants, including school administrators, teachers, students, and their parents. The primary goal is to understand the varied approaches to Quran memorization across these schools and their potential integration into school curricula. The research method includes analyzing student recitations of the Quran and employing SPSS software (version 17.0) for statistical analysis, aiming to discern differences among the six schools.
The study results on the use of Quran memorization principles, and the t-test results for memorizing 5 Juz, 10 Juz, 20 Juz, and 30 Juz, showed statistically significant differences at the P < 0.05 level. From studying all 6 schools, it was found that the most effective and efficient memorization principle was that of Tahfiz Markas Yala School. The differences between the 6 schools are noteworthy to ensure continued improvement in quality and efficiency of the Quran memorization.
