The Rhetorical Formation of Imagery in Jarir’s Poetry: A Study of Personifi cation, Embodiment, Suggestiveness, and Harmony

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the rhetorical structure of poetic imagery in the poetry of Jarir by exploring the core elements that contributed to its formation: personification, embodiment, suggestiveness, and harmony. Adopting an inductive-analytical approach, the research examines selected poetic examples to investigate how Jarir employed these rhetorical tools to create vivid, evocative, and aesthetically cohesive images. The findings reveal Jarir’s artistic mastery in animating abstract meanings through personification and embodiment, enriching the symbolic depth of images through suggestiveness, and enhancing their aesthetic unity through internal harmony. These results highlight Jarir’s rhetorical awareness and his unique ability to shape emotionally and imaginatively compelling poetic imagery, positioning him as a distinguished figure in the art of Umayyad poetic expression.
