Abstract

The objectives of this research were to study and compare the contents of basic aural skills examination for beginner students of three institutes including Trinity College London, The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), and Yamaha. Finding contents can be referred to as guidelines for studying and practicing aural skills for students in each level. The researcher used the qualitative research method which focused on content analysis. The result of this research showed that the seven important musical elements of all three institutes are rhythm, melody, harmony, tone, shape, color, and form. Although color and form were less concerned in the elementary level.
