Academic Administration Guidelines for the Small-Sized Schools under Nakorn Ratchasima Provincial Administrative Organization

Abstract

The main purposes of this descriptive study were to examine the current state and the desired state and the priority needs of the academic administration for the small-sized schools under Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Administrative Organization. Sample population used in the research were 254 teachers, 37 school directors the tools used in this research were rating-scaled questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean (M) and standard deviation (SD) and content analysis. In conclusion, guidelines for academic administration were as follows. 1) Supervision for education, there should be the meeting held to explain the development of supervisory tools to comply with the learning standards and indicators which suited the subject taught according to each group of subject by arranging training to cooperatively develop the common design and to prepare supervisory tools to be regularly monitored by the administrator or the head of the department. 2) Improvement of the quality of education by classroom research, the schools should schedule meetings every semester to present teacher’s classroom research and to let exchange their perspectives within the department in order to know the problems occurred in classroom research for further development. 3) Classroom management, the school should provide a group training for teachers to design their teaching plans, together combined with different bodies of knowledge which could lead to practical and integrated teaching and learning effectively.
