Factors Affecting Elections in Bang Len Subdistrict, Bang Yai District, Nonthaburi Province

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to study: 1) Participation process and Election decision-making behaviour; 2) the comparison of people's election decision-making behaviour classified by personal factors; and 3) Factors affecting election decision-making behaviour. The research is quatitative, and the instrument is a questionnaire. Data were collected on a sample of 384 people aged over 18 years living in Bang Len Subdistrict, Bang Yai District, Nonthaburi Province. Sample Size was calculated according to Cochran et al., (1976) using the probability sampling method and simple random sampling. Statistics used in the research include frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, F-test, and multiple regression analysis by the Enter method.


The research found that: 1) the overall level of participatory factors and electoral decision-making behaviour was high, (4.11, S.D. = 532) , (4.14, S.D. = 582) 2) personal factors by sex, age, status, education, monthly income, occupation do not affect the voting behaviour of people in Bang Len Subdistrict, Bang Yai District, Nonthaburi Province, with statistical significance at the level of .05; and 3) Participatory process factors include cognition, development, auditing, and decision-making. It affects the behaviour of election decisions in Bang Len Subdistrict, Bang Yai District, Nonthaburi Province. Statistically significant at .05 with an influence value of .495 or 49.50 percent.
