Effect of Foot Massage Areca Seed Innovation on Relieving Foot Numbness of Diabetic Patients in the Elderly with Participation Concept

Abstract
This research is quasi-experimental. The objectives are as follows: 1) to study the effect of foot massage, areca seed innovation, on relieving numbness in the feet of diabetic patients in the elderly with the concept of participation. 2) to compare the level of numbness in the feet of diabetic patients in the elderly before and after the trial of the areca seed innovation for foot massage with the concept of participation, the sample groups used were elderly men and women aged 60 years and over who were diabetic patients and had numbness in their feet from 1 point. And above at Tai Hat Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital, Samut Songkhram Province, 30 people were selected by purposive sampling. Statistics used in the analysis include percentage, mean, and standard deviation. Comparing the results before and after the innovation trial using a paired-sample t-test and having repeated measurements with repeated measurement analysis. The results of the research found that the majority of elderly diabetic patients had the opinion that innovative areca seed foot massage to relieve numbness in the feet of diabetic patients in the elderly, with the participation concept, can reduce numbness in the feet the most. (4.67, S.D. = .547). The average score for the level of foot numbness in elderly diabetic patients after using areca seed innovation with a participation concept using monofilaments to measure the level of sensation in the feet at 4 points on each foot, namely, the big toe and the 1st, 3rd, and 5th metatarsal heads, which will be evaluated once a week for 8 weeks, is better than before using the innovation, with statistical significance at the .05 level.
