Implementation of urban planning policy on land use determination in the area surrounding Burapha University, Saensuk Municipality, Mueang Chonburi District

Abstract

The research study, titled "Implementation of Urban Planning Policy on Land Use in the Area Surrounding Burapha University, Saensuk Municipality, Mueang Chonburi District," aimed to (1) study the changes and impacts of land use changes in the area surrounding Burapha University, Saensuk Municipality, Mueang Chonburi District. The researcher interviewed three key informants: (1) administrators of regional agencies and private sectors, (2) representatives of local administrative organizations, and (3) community leaders. The data collection tool consisted of in-depth interviews with key informants from all three groups. Data were analyzed to address both objectives using typological and comparative analyses.

            The results of the study revealed that land use changes in the area surrounding Burapha University have resulted in positive impacts on the physical condition of the surrounding area, including: (1) development of abandoned areas, (2) development of public utilities and services to cover all areas, (3) increased security around the university, and (4) reduction of abandoned and degraded areas. And it is a crime risk point. (5) Public services and various private sector services help facilitate people in the area. Negative impacts include traffic congestion, garbage problems, etc., and obstruction of water flow, which may cause severe flooding in the future. The study of land use changes in the area around Burapha University has caused positive impacts on the economic conditions of the surrounding area in terms of (1) increasing employment, (2) the community economic system has circulated, and (3) creating continuous economic activities. Negative impacts include higher living costs in the area. The study of land use changes in the area around Burapha University has caused positive effects on the social conditions of the surrounding area in terms of (1) improving the quality of life of people in the area. Negative impacts include (1) changing the way of life and living conditions of people in the community, (2) making it challenging to prevent various problems, such as criminals, quarrels, etc., and (3) increasing the risk of social problems.
