Abstract

This article presents the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) concept as an essential operational framework for modern businesses. It highlights the importance of shifting from traditional, profit-focused business models to a sustainability-oriented approach. The article explains the three components of ESG Environmental, Social, and Governance and provides examples of indicators and implementation by leading Thai companies, such as The Siam Cement Public Company Limited (SCG), PTT Public Company Limited, and Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited. The framework helps foster business sustainability by mitigating long-term risks, bolstering stakeholder confidence, and unlocking new opportunities for business growth and innovation. Furthermore, the article addresses the limitations and challenges faced by Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in adopting ESG principles, particularly concerning resource constraints, a deficit in knowledge and understanding, and regulatory hurdles
