วิจัยปฏิบัติการ (action research หรือ AR) เป็นการดำเนินการวิจัยที่มุ่งเน้นการดำเนิน
กิจกรรมแบบความร่วมมือระหว่างนักวิจัยกับผู้ปฏิบัติงาน โดยที่การดำเนินงานยังต้องอยู่บนพื้นฐาน
ของการมีทฤษฎี หรือมีกรอบแนวคิดทฤษฎี แต่งานวิจัยปฏิบัติการก็ถูกวิพากษ์ว่าไม่เข้มงวดใน
ระเบียบวิธีวิจัย โดยงานวิจัยปฏิบัติการทางงานระบบสารสนเทศ มองว่าไม่แตกต่างกับการทำงาน
ที่ปรึกษาโครงการพัฒนาระบบสารสนเทศ การทำงานวิจัยปฏิบัติการจึงควรต้องเข้มงวดกับ
ระเบียบวิธีวิจัย เพื่อการยอมรับในผลงานวิจัย โดยพิจารณาเลือกชนิดงานวิจัยปฏิบัติการ การวาง
กรอบการวิจัย การใช้งานวิจัยปฏิบัติการ บทความนี้จะนำเสนอชนิดของงานวิจัยปฏิบัติการที่มี
ความเข้มงวดในระเบียบวิธีวิจัย เช่นงานวิจัยวิทยาศาสตร์ปฏิบัติการ เพื่อนำมาใช้กับงานวิจัยทาง
ระบบสารสนเทศ เพื่อช่วยเสริมจุดแข็งที่ทำอ่อนให้วิจัยทางระบบสารสนเทศมีความแตกต่างจาก
