The Development of Agriculture and the Law of Thailand to Support the Principles for Responsible Investment in Agricultural and Food Systems of the United Nations

Abstract

The development of agriculture and the law of Thailand to support the “Principles for Responsible Investment in Agricultural and Food Systems of the United Nations; RAI”, the objectives are to study the consistency between the laws and the principles for responsible investment in agricultural and food systems of the United Nations and to recommendations on the development of agriculture and the law of Thailand to support the principles for responsible investment in agricultural and food systems. The methodology is to collect the laws related to agricultural investment and food systems, analyst SWOT, TOWS and study all components to contribute the development of agriculture and the law of Thailand to support the principles for responsible investment in agricultural and food systems of the United Nations. The results demonstrate that problems and strategies of the agricultural sector have various dimensions, such as promoting foreign investment, investment and joint venture with foreign countries, agricultural development focuses on food safety, promoting small entrepreneurs, legal review, development of agricultural product traceability systems according to international standards, labor management, strengthening small entrepreneurs, public-private partnership and strengthening the farmers. When combined with the RAI principles and the laws of Thailand, it will support strengthen food security and sustainable agriculture. The recommendations apply to the development of agriculture and the law of Thailand to support the principles for responsible investment in agricultural and food systems consisting of legal aspects to support foreign investors, agricultural development, farmers and small entrepreneurs.
