“Thai Rice” being more than rice (brown rice or white rice)
Main Article Content
Abstract
How does “rice” mean more than paddy rice, brown rice, and milled rice? Rice production with higher production costs, low price of paddy rice, sub-standard product quality. In the past solutions have not been concluded on how to reduce rice production costs. Confidential knowledge for efficient and economical use of production factors should be confirmed. All we need to know is how rice has growth stages: rice seedling, rice tillering, rice PI (PI=panicle initiation), rice flowering, and rice harvesting. Appropriate fertilizer application for the specific purposes of (1) applying at seedling stage to create roots, stems, and leaves, (2) applying at tillering stage to increase the number of plants per tiller, and (3) applying at PI (panicle initiation) stage to create the number of grains per panicle. After rice has created grains per panicle, only water management is needed. The yield after rice cultivation is not only paddy rice but also many products can be food and non-food products. The value of rice can be increased further by transforming various parts of rice: rice straw, brown rice, milled rice, rice husk, and rice bran to create various innovative products. Include food, beverages and non-food products such as rice beverages, ice cream from rice, rice flour and puff products, rice bran oil, or various cosmetics. So “rice” can be more than just rice husks, brown rice or milled rice.
