Journal Description

Asian Administration and Management Review (AAMR) is an open-access, peer-reviewed electronic journal published bi-annually in English. AAMR is a collaborative effort between the Association of Legal & Political Studies (Thailand), White Tiger Legal Business and Research Consultants Co., Ltd. (Thailand), the Faculty of Management Sciences, Prince of Songkla University (Thailand), and the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, National University of Laos (Lao PDR.). AAMR serves as a premier platform for disseminating rigorous, cutting-edge, and interdisciplinary scholarship focusing on administration and management across the public, private, and non-profit sectors, particularly within the Asian context. The journal welcomes original research articles and comprehensive review articles, employing a transparent open review process involving at least three expert reviewers prior to publication, ensuring the highest standards of academic quality. AAMR is committed to fostering critical dialogue and advancing knowledge that contributes to effective and innovative administrative and management practices in Asia and beyond.

 

Scopes

Asian Administration and Management Review is an interdisciplinary journal committed to publishing impactful research and reviews from diverse academic disciplines – including business, economics, public administration, organizational studies, and related fields – that address critical issues in administration and management. The journal emphasizes scholarship that focuses on Asia, including comparative studies within the region and between Asia and other global contexts. We welcome submissions that explore the following key areas (but are not limited to):

1. Business Management: Research on all aspects of business management, including finance, marketing, operations, human resources, strategy, entrepreneurship, and innovation. This includes studies of specific industries and sectors in Asia, such as manufacturing, agriculture, technology, tourism, and services, as well as comparative analyses of management practices across different cultural and institutional contexts. We particularly welcome research that addresses the challenges and opportunities of doing business in Asia, including issues related to globalization, regionalization, and technological change.

2. Public Administration and Governance: Scholarly analysis of public administration, public policy, and governance at all levels of government in Asia. This includes studies of public sector reform, bureaucratic behavior, policy implementation, intergovernmental relations, public finance, and e-governance. We encourage submissions that explore the challenges of promoting good governance, accountability, and transparency in the public sector, as well as the role of public administration in achieving sustainable development goals.

3. Organizational Studies: Interdisciplinary research on the structure, processes, and dynamics of organizations, including businesses, government agencies, non-profit organizations, and social enterprises. This includes studies of organizational culture, leadership, teamwork, communication, decision-making, and change management. We welcome research that explores the impact of globalization, technology, and social trends on organizational behavior and performance in Asia.

4. Emerging Trends and Innovations in Administration and Management: Research on emerging trends and innovations in administration and management, including the application of new technologies (e.g., artificial intelligence, blockchain, big data) to improve organizational efficiency and effectiveness. This includes studies of digital transformation, smart cities, sustainable management practices, social innovation, and the future of work. We encourage submissions that explore the ethical, social, and environmental implications of these emerging trends. Furthermore, the journal welcomes submissions discussing lessons learned from other regions which can be applied in the Asian context. 

 

Article Types

Asian Administration and Management Review (AAMR) welcomes submissions of two distinct article types:

• Original Research Articles: These articles present novel empirical findings, rigorous analyses, and significant contributions to the fields of administration, management, and related organizational studies. Submissions should clearly articulate research questions, theoretical grounding, methodology, findings, and implications for theory and practice.

• Comprehensive Review Articles: These articles provide critical syntheses of existing literature, identify research gaps, and offer insightful perspectives on key issues and emerging trends in administration and management. Reviews should be comprehensive, analytical, and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field.

 

Publication Frequency

Asian Administration and Management Review (AAMR) is published bi-annually, with two volumes per year:

• No. 1: January - June

• No. 2: July - December

While articles accepted within each period are scheduled for immediate online publication upon completion of the final production, the total number of articles per issue will be determined by the editorial team to maintain a balanced publication. This may include incorporating accepted articles received shortly after the timeframe or adjusting the order to ensure a consistent volume, with some articles possibly shifted to the subsequent issue for optimal fit.

 

Peer Review Process

Asian Administration and Management Review (AAMR) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic rigor through a rigorous and transparent open peer review process. All submitted manuscripts undergo review by at least three suitably qualified experts in the relevant field. The review process is open, fostering constructive dialogue between authors and reviewers. Final publication decisions are made by the editors based on the thoroughness and quality of the reviews, ensuring that only the most impactful and scientifically sound research is published.

 

Languages

Asian Administration and Management Review (AAMR) publishes articles exclusively in English, the international language of business, management, and academic research, to maximize the reach and impact of the research.

Ownership and Management

Asian Administration and Management Review (AAMR) is owned by the Association of Legal & Political Studies (Thailand) and White Tiger Legal Business and Research Consultants Co., Ltd. (Thailand). It is published under the academic cooperation of both institutions with the Faculty of Management Sciences, Prince of Songkla University (Thailand) and Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, National University of Laos (Lao PDR.). ALPS is primarily responsible for academic operations, while the WTLBRC is primarily responsible for management and finances. PSU and NUOL have the main duties of supporting academic operations, such as serving as editors/reviewers and providing suggestions to improve the quality of the journal.

Revenue Sources, Advertising, and Direct Marketing Policy

Asian Administration and Management Review (AAMR) is currently supported financially through a combination of sources. Initially, the journal was funded by the Association of Legal & Political Studies and White Tiger Legal Business and Research Consultants Co., Ltd. Currently, the journal's primary source of revenue is article processing charges (APCs), which are levied on accepted articles to cover the costs of publication, including peer review, editorial services, online hosting, and archiving.

AAMR maintains a strict policy of not accepting advertising from any external entities, ensuring the impartiality and objectivity of the journal's content.

In promoting the journal and its publications, AAMR adheres to ethical marketing practices, avoiding any actions that could be detrimental to other parties or that could be considered misleading. The journal is committed to providing accurate and transparent information to prospective authors and readers.
