Abstract

This is our last issue available in print. Starting in 2023, Applied Economics Journal (AEJ) will be published online only. This is in line with the changing preferences of our readers, who are mostly active online, meaning the demand for the printed journal has dwindled and few readers now pick up a printed copy. Our online articles are still open-access, downloadable for free, and also available on a number of websites and search engines – for example, AEJ website, RePEc, Google Scholar, Web of Science, ASEAN Citation Index, and Thailand Citation Index (TCI). Please feel free to download and cite our published articles.

This December 2022 issue contains six articles, three written in Thai and the other three in English. Our homepage presents the titles and abstracts of all articles in English so that our audiences all over the world can read the summaries. If you are interested, you can access the full-text versions by clicking on the PDF logos. Four articles highlight interesting and challenging issues in Thailand. Their topics and main research questions are:

1) the state welfare card or “the card for the poor” – does it really help the poor?

2) the price of diesel – is it economical and does it improve social welfare?

3) stablecoins – are they a safe haven or a hedge against cryptocurrencies?

4) transport behavior in Bangkok and five adjacent provinces – what factors affect travel?

The final two articles then present:

5) the relationship in Turkey between government bond spreads and fiscal indicators

6) factors affecting farmers’ access to credit in Lao PDR.
