The results of the performance management system on performance appraisal (Thai)

Abstract

This research was aimed at studying 1) performance management models to develop the operations of
the teaching and supporting staff of the organizations under Khon Kaen University, and 2) the results of the
performance management system to develop the operations of the teaching and supporting staff of the
organizations under Khon Kaen University. The study was based on both the qualitative and quantitative
research methods were applied.
The findings indicate that the performance management models for the staff members improvement
were classified into 3 groups: Model 1) The organizations with long-term development of the system with
transparent system implementation - These organizations have carried out development for over 10 years. The
results of the system will determine to promote staffs. Model 2) The organizations having long-term system
development and transparent system implementation with systematic components -These organizations have
systematic administrative and develop the operational outcomes of the staffs in over 5 years. The results from
the system provide some information to promote staffs. Model 3) The organizations starting to develop their
administration and management to improve operational results - These organizations are at the initial stage of
the improvement especially the supporting staff. It was found that among the teaching staff, only university
officers are evaluated on their work results to extend their contracts. The finding also found the results of
performance management system shows that the results of performance planning, the staff members analyzed
their jobs to find their scope of work and Position Description-PD, and felt that their mission was important for
the organization. The results of performance implementing, the staff members worked following their plan and
followed their results too. There were interrelationship between the staffs and their collages to get their goals.
The results of performance appraisal, the staffs were alerted in working and planned for improvement their
positions.
