Abstract

Sesame is an oil seed which is very small. It is difficult to roast sesame seeds because they are charred, cooked or still raw after roasting. It takes time and uses much labor to roast them effectively. Therefore, the object of this study is to design and develop a high efficiency prototype sesame roaster. It was found that the prototype sesame roaster can roast 1 - 5 kilogram sesame seeds within 18 - 37 minutes. The average energy cost was 1.1 baht per kilogram of sesame seed (not including the labor cost). It can save energy and time. The prototype sesame roaster uses single phase electricity. It is easy to use and easy to maintain
