The communication skills of Khon Kaen University students in the job search process (Thai)

Abstract

The main aim of this research study was to investigate the communication skills of Khon Kaen University students and to suggest policies for developing students for the job search process. The research participants were 10% of the students in the last academic year from all Faculties of Khon Kaen University. There were altogether 330 students divided into three main areas of study; Humanities and Social Sciences, Science and Technology, and Health Sciences. The research findings revealed that the communication skills of students were at a high level in terms of Interpersonal Communication (X= 3.71), Group and Organizational Communication (X= 3.63), and Intercultural Communication (X= 3.62). However, the mean scores employed to indicate the level of studentsû communication skills were at a moderate level in terms of Negotiation Skills (X= 3.45) and Crisis and Conflict Management (X= 3.49). In add-ition, students agreed at a high level that some communication courses should be provided at Khon Kaen University (X= 4.04). This should lead to policies for providing some communication courses for Khon Kaen University students so that they can develop themselves to their fullest potential and compete with graduates from other institutions in the job search process.
