Empowerment model of peer leaders for aids preventive sexual risk behavior among students, Nakhon Ratchasima Rajabhat University

Abstract
The purpose of this action research was to develop an empowerment program for AIDS preventive sexual risk behaviors among undergraduate students of Nakhon Ratchasima Rajabhat University. The research procedure was carried out into two steps. The first step was to study the university context, the health organizational system, and sexual risk behavior. The second step was to develop model of AIDS preventive sexual risk behaviors among undergraduate students applying the empowerment theory of J. Lord. The sample of the experimental group comprised of 40 student leaders. Results showed that after the student leaders attended the program, their knowledge and attitude on sexual risk behavior and AIDS were higher with a statistically significant level of 0.01. Furthermore, these students had the skills for educational campaign on AIDS and had also planned the activities to prevent sexual behavior at risk of AIDS in the following years.
