Abstract

This survey research was aimed to study the opinion and factors affecting the opinion on the community pharmacy accreditation by Pharmacy Council, in order to raise their service quality and standard. The study was conducted and the data were collected from 384 subjects in Varinchamrap District, Ubon Ratchathani Province using questionnaires. The results showed that in drugstores, personnel (pharmacist and assistant), dispensing process and signs were the most important factors, with the mean scores of 4.53, 4.49 and 4.43 respectively (total score of 5.0). Besides the standards of Pharmacy Council, there were following other needs in the drugstores; (1) having the separate area for over the counter product, (2) knowing the prices before dispensing, and (3) showing the type of drugstore according to law (mean scores of 4.47, 4.36 and 4.34 respectively). For factors affecting opinions on the standards of drugstores, male and female subjects have indifferent opinions while the opinions of subjects with different ages, education, and income were significantly different (p-value<0.001).
