Abstract

This qualitative research aimed to study home and community care system and its problems for HIV/AIDS patients (PHAs) who received health services from Kumalasai and Ban Phai Hospitals. The results indicated that families and communities had high level of knowledge on HIV/AIDS. The problem was acceptance of community to live with PHAs. Family and community did not have appropriate systems to help PHAs which covered physical, psychological, social and spiritual aspects both within and with outside the community. The most important problems and needs of PHAs and families were community acceptance, financial assistance and job opportunity.
