The Development of Learning Ability Using Board Games on the Topic of the Present Continuous Tense for Grade 8 Students at Ban Nonthan Municipal School

Abstract
This research aimed to: 1) determine the efficiency of learning management on the topic of the Present Continuous Tense using board games for Grade 8 students at Ban Nonthan Municipal School;
2) compare students’ learning achievement before and after learning through board games on the Present Continuous Tense; and 3) examine the learning satisfaction of Grade 8 students at Ban Nonthan Municipal School. The participants consisted of 24 Grade 8 students. The research instruments included three lesson
plans, a pre-test and a post-test. The statistics used for data analysis were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and hypothesis testing using a dependent samples t-test.
The results of the study revealed that:
1) The efficiency of learning on the Present Continuous Tense using board games for Grade 8 students at Ban Nonthan Municipal School was 72.92/83.61 (E1/E2), which was higher than the established standard criterion of 75/75.
2) The comparison of learning achievement scores showed that the mean pre-test score was 14.21, while the mean post-test score was 22.92. The post-test scores were significantly higher than the pre-test scores at the 0.5 level of statistical significance.
3) The students’ satisfaction with the learning activities using board games on the Present Continuous Tense was at a high level (µ = 3.47).
