Creative Business and Sustainability Journal (CBSJ) is a double-blind, peer-reviewed, open-access journal published twice a year (June & December) by Chulalongkorn Business School, Chulalongkorn University, Thailand. Continuing the legacy of Chulalongkorn Business Review, CBSJ offers an interdisciplinary forum for research on sustainability-driven business and creative industries, connecting accounting, management, finance, marketing, statistics, and information technology to sustainable value creation. The journal’s mission is to advance knowledge that harmonizes economic performance with environmental stewardship and social well-being, fostering innovative, resilient business models. CBSJ is indexed in the Thai Journal Citation Index Centre (TCI), ASEAN Citation Index (ACI), and Google Scholar, and it levies no submission or article-processing fees.

 

Aim and Scope:

Creative Business and Sustainability Journal (CBSJ) is committed to advancing knowledge in various business functions with a multi-disciplinary nature in the area of sustainability. The journal encompasses the full range of theoretical, methodological, and substantive debates. Contributions from manuscripts that address the relationship between different disciplines with practical implications related to sustainability for societal, organizational, or individual outcomes are especially encouraged.

 

The journal’s coverage is broad and explores the relationship between sustainability and topics that include, but are not limited to:

  • Accounting
  • Business and management
  • Corporate governance
  • Decision sciences
  • Finance and economics
  • International business and global social issues
  • Marketing
  • Stakeholder interactions
  • Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

 

The journal publishes the following paper categories:

  • Research papers: Full reports of research projects including rationale, theoretical background, methodology, collected data, findings, and discussion
  • Review papers: Manuscripts that provide a comprehensive summary or review on a specific topic and a perspective on the state of related fields
  • Conceptual papers: Manuscripts that focus on developing hypotheses and are usually discursive. They can cover philosophical discussions and comparative studies of other authors’ work and thinking.
  • Case study: Manuscripts that describe actual interventions or experiences within organizations. It can be subjective and does not generally report on research.

Peer Review Process

CBSJ employs a rigorous standarized double-blind peer-review process line with COPE standards. Each submission undergoes an initial desk review for scope, originality, and ethical compliance before being anonymised and sent to at least three independent experts. Reviewers must declare any conflicts of interest, maintain strict confidentiality, and assess manuscripts solely on scholarly merit. Editors consolidate the reports to issue clear decisions—accept, minor revision, major revision, or reject—paired with constructive feedback. Regular audits and reviewer training ensure CBSJ continuously upholds high ethical and quality benchmarks.

 

Language Policy

CBSJ accepts manuscripts exclusively in English. Submissions should be concise, accurate, and meet scholarly language standards; authors are strongly advised to polish their work—through professional editing, native-speaker review, or reputable AI language editing tools—before submission to ensure clarity and readability.

 

Publication Charge:

CBSJ is no charge for articles submitted and published. All articles published are open access and are freely and widely available via the journal website, and fully discoverable in Google Scholar.

 

Open Access Policy:

CBSJ provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

 

Revenue Sources

CBSJ is primarily funded by Chulalongkorn Business School, with additional support from Chulalongkorn University. Neither the School, the University, nor the Project exerts any influence over CBSJ’s editorial decisions or double-blind peer-review process, safeguarding the journal’s full independence and integrity.

 

Advertising and Direct Marketing

CBSJ upholds transparency and professionalism in all promotional activities. To increase visibility of its content, the journal shares table-of-contents alerts and article highlights via e-mail, the Thai Editorial System (ThaiJo), and official social-media channels (e.g., Facebook). CBSJ does not sell advertising space or conduct commercial direct marketing. Announcements of academic conferences, calls for papers, and other scholarly events in business and sustainability may be posted at the editors’ discretion and are provided free of charge.

 

Title History

1978 – 2021 — Chulalongkorn Business Review (CBR)

Established in 1978, Chulalongkorn Business Review (Thai: จุฬาลงกรณ์ธุรกิจปริทัศน์) carried print ISSN 0125-6524; from Volume 30 (2008) the print ISSN changed to 0125-6564, and an online ISSN 2673-0677 was later assigned for its digital edition.

2022 – present — Creative Business and Sustainability Journal (CBSJ)

Rebranded in 2022 as Creative Business and Sustainability Journal (online ISSN 2821-9236), the journal retained continuous volume numbering (e.g., Vol. 44 No. 1). CBSJ now publishes two open-access issues per year (January–June and July–December), charges no submission or publication fees, and is indexed in the Thai Journal Citation Index (TCI Tier 1), the ASEAN Citation Index (ACI), and Google Scholar.

 

Ownership and Management

CBSJ is published by Chulalongkorn Business School, Chulalongkorn University. The School’s research office provides administrative oversight, while the Editor-in-Chief and a dedicated editorial staff independently manage all editorial and production duties. CBSJ is institutionally funded by Chulalongkorn Business School; financial supporters have no influence over editorial decisions, safeguarding the journal’s integrity
