Abstract

This research aims to 1) study the causal factors of social responsibility, value creation, and organizational adaptation that affect the sustainability of the food industry in the Eastern Economic Corridor and 2) propose guidelines for the sustainability of the food industry in the Eastern Economic Corridor. The quantitative research sampled 240 food industry operators in the Eastern Economic Corridor who carried out social responsibility and value creation activities. The sample size was set at 20 times the observed variable. The stratified random sampling was used to collect data. The data were analyzed using a structural equation model. For the qualitative research, data were collected through in-depth interviews with representatives of food industry operators in the Eastern Economic Corridor and food factory managers, totaling 12 people. The data were analyzed using content analysis. The results of the research found that 1) value creation had the highest overall influence on the sustainability of the food industry in the Eastern Economic Corridor, followed by social responsibility and organizational adaptation, respectively. 2) The guidelines for developing the sustainability of the food industry in the Eastern Economic Corridor were a newly developed model called the “CO2S Model” that focuses on the economy, society, and the environment.
