The Development of Multimedia with Electronic Books (e-books) is set for use in Teaching, Reading, Writing, and Thinking Critically. Thai language for Elementary School Teachers under the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization

Abstract

This research aimed to (1) develop multimedia in the form of an electronic book (e-book) series for teaching reading, writing, and analytical thinking in Thai language at the elementary level, (2) pilot the use of the developed e-book series among teachers under the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization, and (3) monitor and evaluate the use of the media to examine its effectiveness and teachers’ attitudes toward digital teaching. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach. The population consisted of 1,200 Thai language teachers from 34 schools under the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization. The sample included 68 teachers, selected through purposive and stratified random sampling. Research instruments comprised a media quality assessment form, pre- and post-tests, and a questionnaire on teachers’ attitudes toward technology use in teaching.

The findings indicated that the developed e-book series was of very high quality in terms of content, design, presentation, and practical use. Teachers who used the media demonstrated significant improvements in teaching skills, learning activity management, and technology integration at the .05 significance level. They also held positive attitudes toward using digital media for Thai language instruction. Among students in grades 1–6, achievement in reading, writing, and analytical thinking was significantly higher after instruction than before. Overall, the results suggest that using the developed multimedia e-book series can substantially enhance students’ learning outcomes and teachers’ instructional effectiveness. The study provides an important framework for developing and promoting digital learning at the elementary level and can be applied and extended to other subject areas to improve educational quality in schools under local administrative organizations.
