Documenting the evidence of the Al-khalil Dictionary

This research aims to introduce the Al-Khalil Dictionary and its author, conduct a lexical study of its documentary evidence in terms of its concept, importance and types in Arabic dictionaries, and a statistical study of the evidence that was mentioned in the Al-Khalil Dictionary of its various types. This is to know the quality and quantity of evidence included in the dictionary. This research follows descriptive analytical and statistical methods. The limits of the research were limited to studying and counting the documentary evidence contained in the Al-Khalil dictionary. The researcher reached several results, the most important of which is: Various linguistic evidence, including the Qur’an, Hadith, poetry and prose, was documented in the Al-Khalil Dictionary. The total number of Quranic evidences mentioned in the dictionary reached 1030 evidences.  The most documented chapter in the Qur’an is the chapter on (Al-Shain), with the total number of Qur’anic evidencesreaching 88 witnesses, followed by the chapter on (Al-Sad) with 87 witnesses, then the chapter on (Al-Ayn) with 78 witnesses. As for the least documented chapter in the Holy Qur’an, it is the chapter on (Al-Yā’) and (Al-Da’). Only one Qur’anic witness is mentioned in each of them. As for the hadith evidence contained in the dictionary, their number reached 153 hadiths. The most documented chapter in the hadith is the chapter on Kha; Nearly 22 hadiths have been documented in it, followed by Bab al-Ayn; The total number of hadith evidence reached 21 hadiths. As for the poetic evidence mentioned in the dictionary, their number reached 9, and the most documented chapter in poetry is the “Shin” chapter. The total number of poetic evidences in it reached 3, followed by Bab al-Sad; Where he reached two poetic witnesses, then followed by the chapters of the ba, the za, the dha, and the waw. The number of evidences in each of them was one. Other than these chapters, no introduction to Arabic poetry has been documented. As for the chapters that have been documented with prose evidence, the chapter on the ba, the za’i, the syen, the shin, the sad, the dhaad, the ain, the fa, the kaf, the meem, the waw, and the ha; It was documented by approximately 45 evidences. The most documented chapter on the scattered is the chapter on the eye. His prose evidence reached 10 witnesses. It is followed by Chapter Al-Sin, which has 8 evidences, then Chapter Al-Ba, which has a total of 7 evidences. As for the chapter on the hamza, ta, tha, ji, ha, kha, dal, dha, ra, ta, tha, ghayn, qaf, lam, nun, and yaa; No mention of prose words has been documented.
